Participatory Role of Public Representatives

  1. Maintaining a co-relation in scheme implementation from planning stage to maintenance stage
  2. Speedy selection of pin-point locations for installation of spot sources (Hand pumps, Ring well etc.)
  3. Advocate active involvement of the community (PRI/users committee) in operation and maintenance of schemes to ensure sustainability and assured delivery.
  4. Taking stock of the beneficiaries satisfaction level against service delivered by PHED and suggestions for improvement thereof.
  5. Extending help in Transfer of existing drinking water supply systems to communities and PRIs for management, operation and maintenance.
  6. Helping in Resource mobilization from other source for Up gradation & maintenance of schemes and leverage on use of 14Th Finance Commission Grant during preparation of GPDP(Gram panchayat development plan)
  7. Take initiatives in selection of site for installation of different components of pipe water supply schemes (PWSS) or any spot sources.
  8. Take initiatives for promoting efficient water use, conservation of water etc.
  9. Take initiatives so that PHE deptt. is consulted for feasibility with regard to quality, water availability etc. during installation of any water source for drinking purpose by any other agency.
  10. Take initiatives / offer necessary guidance so that each GPWSC takes effective steps for formation of Water Users’ Committee as per PHED Bye Laws and declare the same as the subcommittee of the GP. Also supervise that GPWSC monitors the work of service delivery of each Water Users’ Committee.
  11. Oversee that GPWSC monitors & facilitates proper utilization of Finance Commission award fund for GP development.
